Story

Hi there!

Santino here, thanks for stopping by!

I'm celebrating the holidays and the end of 2020 by making a difference and fundraising for an amazing cause that's close to my heart.

I've been growing my hair for just over 5 years and it's finally time for it to go, but to a better home! On the 22nd of December I will be shaving my head and donating my hair to the amazing folks at Freedom Hair, where they create wigs for men and women worldwide!

You can find more information on Freedom Hair and their services on their website: https://freedomwigs.com/

Along with shaving my head, I thought this was a great opportunity to fundraise for The Mary Potter Hospice, which is a fantastic local charity! The Mary Potter Hospice are a great cause in where they provide a free service to patients with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, by assisting their quality of life during their difficult times as well as giving lots of support to them and their families.

You can find more information on the Mary Potter Hospice and what services they provide on their website: https://marypotter.org.nz

They have a few projects in the works where your donations will help contribute, including a new Mary Potter Apartment, which will be a block of 36 new apartments for long-term patients. This will be great for giving patients well needed support and also the space they need to spend time with all their family and make the most of the precious time left together.

So any contribution, whether big or small, would be much appreciated and will go a long way to help out the Mary Potter Hospice.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to The Mary Potter Hospice Foundation.

Thanks so much for your support! Happy Holidays!!

~Santino :)

The Mary Potter Hospice Foundation

We are here to provide the highest quality specialist palliative care service we can to people living with a terminal illness and to give their families any support they may need.

The care we provide acknowledges the uniqueness of each person and we strive to work in partnership to meet patient and family needs according to their cultural and spiritual upbringing.

The Hospice has an 12-bed Inpatient Unit in Wellington and Community Palliative Care bases in Wellington, Paraparaumu and Porirua. We also provide care and support to people and their families in their own homes.

On a day-to-day basis, the Hospice will work closely with you, your General Practitioner (GP) and other health professionals to provide your care and support. Along with our inpatient and community care, the Hospice provides Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Counselling and Spiritual Care services.

The Hospice also employs Education, Quality Improvement, Administration, Fundraising and Research staff, and relies on the assistance of many Volunteers who donate their time and energy to assist in many aspects of Hospice services.
